Default I <3 Sandstorm

Thank you Anet for sandstorm. It's everything AoE should be and more. It does it all.. heavy damage, gigantic AoE, and long duration so AoE DoT finally does what it's meant to do... denies a location for a good chunk of time. Not only is it an awesome spell, but it's in the earth line, thus giving access to all sorts of nifty utility.

If only the brigade of AoE DoT was more like this, elementalists would be able to practice area denial like no tomorrow. Buff those durations and increase those AoE sizes!

I can tank ur entire build without u having to cast one thing on me if ur caster, or tanking ur entire build if ur meele without u laying a fingure on me IF i got the right build. IT IS ALL ABOUT A FREAKIN RIGHT BUILD buddy.

I don't see how you justified your post in this thread. Have something useful to say when you post. Don't just bomb a thread because you know how to counter it. Most don't counter it properly, and you countering it doesn't change the fact that Sandstorm is quite good elite for Earth Eles Nexxus.
Sandstorm is definetly good.

I agree, Sandstorm + Churning earth + a few other earth skills can be good in AB (better than fire cause earth can do AoE and protect you.)

Hell yes, include me in the <3 for Sandstorm!

I played air ele for a long time through Prophecies, then swapped over to earth in Factions and now still earth in Nightfall. Also, I PvE only too really.

Sandstorm is everything I hoped for. When I first read the skill, I knew I would replace Unsteady Ground with Sandstorm even though the pro's and con's were obvious (thats part of what makes it a great skill!). My earth build has ALWAYS been about damage, with some party preservation thrown in so I am very happy seeing this skill promote my build!

FYI, this is what I use everywhere through the game

Glyph of Lesser Energy
Sandstorm
Eruption
Churning Earth
Dragon's Stomp
Ward against melee/elements/stability/cap signet/Lightbringer Gaze
Aura of Restoration/Heal Party/Res signet
Earth Attunement

Open with a SS, follow with a dragons stomp. This generally works cos the target will attack once/twice before trying to move (provoking extra SS damage), then the stomp keeps them in SS for more damage when they move, then they run back into the SS and attack again, cos of the lovely 10 second effect time! Tis joy :-)

Blanket AoE DoT skills are fun! Certainly not the ultimate, kill everything everywhere build or spike insanely build, but _just_ fun!

Oh also, standing in the middle of your AoE skills works quite well as a 'shield' with the current mob AI :-P

Here another earth ele, that has done some extensive solo earth farming, Sandstorm is just an amazing skill. Eles have gotten a nice bunch off skills in Nightfall. Keep it up A.net and the eles while be no longer the laughing stock of the casters like it was during the dark ages of ele nerfs.

Ebon Hawk + Glowstone (abit more conditional than SF + Glowing Gaze) just apply weakness (even possibily through air) and your gaining energy too.

After seeing sandstorm and all the other new fun earth skills, ive been wanting to make one of my ele hero's an earth ele. Any ideas on this vs fire ele. I mean i mainly give my fire ele spammable skills, keep MS disabled and use it when i really need it. Im thinking earth may be the way to go but i really am not experienced with earth enough...especially in pve. Any ideas, all are welcome.

oh btw STONEFLESH AURA is the coolest new skill, its my new staple skill for my obsidain spike ele. reduces ALL dmg by 33 at max earth....lol sry but its a sick skill.

Just got done running sandstorm spike in HA a few minutes ago from an IRC pug. It was lots of fun considering how every team is some crappy holding build, and stoneflesh+armor of earth means you take 0 damage. The only thing that hurts are usual enchantment hate, interrupts, and the lack of real healing and coordination we had. We should've had all 6 eles bring obs flame to spike a target down, but regardless, the damage is impressive. 900 damage at vod? yes plz.

Actually, In my opinion Earth > Fire now, I mean fire has good AoE and some spammable spells, but Earth has all that + Defencive skills. And Searing Flames is way overrated if you ask me.
